Back in the saddle again! Thank you so much to Nat, Gillian, Helen, Hanne, Veronica Darling and Winnie for taking over for me while I was gone. For the first time in forever I didn’t wake up to my sewing blog roll every morning, but guess what? I missed you guys. It’s nice to be back.
It’s Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend and I decided to have friends at my place tonight after failing in my Thanksgiving hosting duties the last few years (I used to host fairly enormous dinners annually). This year I am being lazy and not making pierogis as my family tradition dictates (I don’t have a kitchen assistant today and also… oy, so much work) BUT I am experimenting with a new turkey technique called… wait for it… spatchcocking. Sounds filthy, doesn’t it? Basically you take the backbone out of the little dude and roast it flat so it cooks evenly without the breast drying out. I’m also dry brining as opposed to wet; I’ll let you know if it gives a crispier skin while still saying moist as promised by Serious Eats. But enough about the bird… on to the birds!
Jenny finally launched her pattern company! In case you haven’t heard, she is designing patterns exclusively for curvy women, and each pattern includes cup sizes so no more FBAs! I can honestly say she’s doing everything right. Get your mits on the Appleton wrap dress here.
Speaking of launches, Taylor Tailor finally released his backpack pattern! I’m going to be on the hunt for notions when I’m in NYC next weekend.
And…. the Roscoe Blouse from True Bias! This is on my hit list the minute I find the right printed voile. It reminds me of a beautiful batik vintage top I wore to death as a teenager.

I basically got sucked into the Whole30 and it’s all Caroline’s fault. I’ve been having some heartburn issues and I think my tummy needs a reset. Once I get back from Camp Workroom Scoial I am cutting out all sugar, dairy, grains and legumes for 30 days and I am terrified. Any hints on how to get through? Blogs with recipes of food I can actually eat? HELP!
